REMINDER-ONE MORE CHANCE TO WIN!

I thought I'd give y'all one more chance to win an autographed copy of A Love of Her Own. A week ago I blogged that I was still alive and gave an little update on what I've been up to this summer. At the bottom of that post, I asked if you wanted to share what you've been up to this summer and make a comment to be entered on Aug. 22nd for a copy of my book.

To date, I only have two comments back to me. There's still time to enter. If you've already read the book, maybe you'd like a copy for a gift. I'll draw a name Sunday night on the 22nd. Check back here to see if you've won.

For your enjoyment, here's picture of butterflies feeding on a trailing hydrangea hanging across the fence in my back yard. Aren't they pretty? When I snapped the picture, I was trying to get a blue and black butterfly that was in the middle of these two, but he flittered off. Most of my potted flowers are looking scraggly in the high heat we've experienced for two months, but my neighbor's tall bush, right outside my office window, is giving me delight each day.

My first book, No Place for a Lady, is a Crossings Book Club feature for their summer and August catalog. I'm so happy people are enjoying that first book!

What new delight is going on in your world? I'd love to hear from you.

Until later,

Maggie

Hey Brenda,
I would like to enter your contest for a copy of your book A Love of Her Own. I have the other two books in the series and would like to have the third.

As to what I have been doing this summer-it's mostly relaxing and having my almost 6 year old grandson over for sleep-overs. He is a wonderful and precious blue eyed boy and a blessing to not only me, but our whole family.

I also do some bird watching and have bird feeders around the yard. They are fascinating to watch and I enjoy them very much.

I read a lot, outside of the Bible, I read Christian fiction and really enjoy the ones that are set in the 1800's-early 1900's and ones that are about the Amish.

Blessings, Mrs. Tina Rice

Hi, Maggie! I'm glad you're back : ) I have now collected all three books in the wonderful "Heart of the West" Series! I have been enjoying some delicious fresh garden veggies, especially tomatoes and yellow squash. Yummy! I have been surviving the heat by having lots of sweet iced tea with lemon readily available. To remind me not to take myself too seriously, I have my cat clowns for entertainment. I am still laughing over the latest random act of humor by my beautiful black cat, "Elvis". He ate my cornbread. Wasn't even buttered. He stole it and ate the whole piece...and looked like he wanted more! Cat that eats cornbread--what will they come up with next? >^..^<

Hi Brenda,

I would love to enter your contest for a copy of your book, A Love of Her Own, too! I have read it (and am looking forward to book #4), but, I would love to surprise my niece at Christmas with an autographed copy. I gave her a copy of your first book in July for her birthday!

This summer I have been blessed to spend some very special time with our youngest son before he moved away, out of state...and we are now empty-nesters. (Thank you for your encouragement on FB!). I've not cried the past 3 days, so right now I am doing OK! With two new daughters-in-law, I've also had some fun girl-time with both of them. My puppy, Annie, is also always ready for playtime and cuddling.

The first of this month I was thrilled to go with my husband on his business trip to Washington D.C. When he was free we were able to see some of the historical sites -- a short and fun trip to have taken together.

Wishing you quick writing, as you work on your 5th book! Thank you so much for making your books also available on Kindle!

P.S. Mrs. Rice and I would get along wonderfully, as our favorite reading choices are the same! :-)

I tried entering using my Google ID, but since I kept getting an error message, am going to try being anonymous.

Brenda,
I would love a signed copy of your book. I love your books and look forward to reading the next one.

I have been enjoying the summer with my 3 1/2 year old little girl. We live close to Gulf Shores and usually enjoy going down there over the summer. Since there is oil in the Gulf, we have stayed on the quest for a place to swim and have found a variety of places to go. We have had a great time and now she has started preschool. I miss her so much and am thankful for the time we had this summer!

I would like to have a copy of your book A Love of Her Own. I have all three of your books and have read them all. How Great is Our God that he gave you a gift of writing and you do it so well.

We have put all three of your books in our newly opened (June 2010) Creekside Bed and Breakfast and the guests have enjoyed reading your books. We have been booked each night except for 7 nights since June 15th - so therefore, we are very busy this summer.

Blessing on you my friend - Shirley

Hi, Tina! Your grandson sounds so special. I enjoy my 4 grandchilren who range in ages 3-11. If you like Amish, you'll enjoy Kelly Long's books. She's my writing partner and her books are very popular right now. I wanted to interview her but she is on deadline. But I hope to soon. Blessings.

Virginia, I love fresh vegetables! There's nothing better to this Southern gal. We've had vegetable gardens almost everywhere we've lived but the yard we have is small (but I like it), I but do miss having a garden. I don't have time for all the work, either. A cornbread lovin' cat! Now that's funny. I love the Elvis name, too. My black cat lived until she was 19and her name was Katy. I still miss her. Thanks for taking time to post.

Gayle, the "empty nest" is hard to go through, but you're lucky to have 2 new dil's and you're sweet puppy, Anne. She'll become your new baby! lol. Now you're free to take those trips with hubby. You're entering a new era of your life. Thanks for reading my novels and I'm so glad you enjoyed them. Good luck on the contest.

Hi Alene. Your sweet daughter will growing up before you can bat your eyes. Gulf Shores is a nice place. Remember I'm from Gulfport, MS. I feel so sad about the oil spill. Katrina was bad enough and forever changed the landscape of my home town and the Hwy. 90 beach. Blessings!

Shirley, you're such a sweet friend to put my book in your B&B. I'd love a chance one day to see what you and Lloyd have done with your beautiful home. I'm not surprised that y'all are booked. Your garden looks beautiful and I look forward to seeing your pictures that you post on your blog. I need to add your link to my blog. Have a great rest of the week. :)

A Love of Her own sounds wonderful. Since summer is my favorite time of year I have been enjoying it greatly. The blue skies, sunshine, warmth and beauty make everyday a pleasure. I work in my garden and take walks in the early morning. We spent a week away in the mountains which was a lovely change of scene. thanks for this giveaway.

Hi Brenda - I'd love to be entered in the contest - have Book 1 & 2 - I never read a series until I have all of them because I can't handle waiting - lol! My life is crazy year around - we have 4 kids that came to our home as newborns thru foster/adopt. Our eldest is starting his Senior yr. of HS next week, so lots of "firsts" and "lasts" for him this year. We've been looking at college this year, plus doing some staycations in the area.

Traveler, You have the right idea about relaxing and reading...you must live in a cooler climate. The heat & humidity have been terrible in Atlanta this year.

Petite,I like your way of relaxing! :)

Val, 100 books to read? My goodness. And I thought I had a lot!

EJ-Funny that you wait until you have the entire series before you read them. :) My niece got married outdoors a few yrs. ago in KS. It was miserable and I believe the actual temperature was 110*. I had the vapors. Lol.

Thanks everyone for you posts. I'm enoying reading your summer escapes!

This summer has been much busier than usual -- doing some redecorating in our home -- working with the Women's Ministry Team at our church planning for our fall Bible study -- studying and preparing for the 2 lessons I will be teaching -- plus, working with 2 other friends in planning and preparing to speak to other ladies who want to learn ways to reflect the love of Jesus in winsome ways. Our ministry's name is Gracious Interiors -- Inspiring Winsome Homes and Hearts! Contact me at jrgjhg@comcat.net if you would like to know more about Gracious Interiors.
I'm hoping in another week to have some time just to sit on my back patio and take the time to read for pleasure and for edification!
Blessings! Janette Godfrey
